Lady Chaps Wrap Up Season In Eighth

SHAWNEE, Okla. (November 5, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals cross country team concluded their running season with an eighth place finish at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships. Amanda Lopez led LCU with a 30^th place finish with a time of 20:36. Kirsti Whipple (32^nd, 20:42) and Tashah Overbo (39^th, 21:05) were within thirty seconds of finishing behind Lopez to finish in the top-40 for the Lady Chaps. Also competing for LCU was Allix Hardin (52nd, 22:37), Kayla Ingraham (55^th, 22:52) and Erin Bailey (61^st, 23:32). Brenda Felipe of Rogers State University won the event with a time of 18:38 to top the field of 76 runners. LCU averaged a finish of 21:34 in the race to finish eighth. Wayland Baptist University won the team event in an average time of 19:21 and four runners finishing in the top six spots.

Lady Chaps Finish In 16th

WINFIELD, Kan. (October 22, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals finished in 16^th place competing in the NAIA Mid-States Classic hosted by Southwestern College. LCU had three of their six runners finish in the top-100 of the event. Amanda Lopez led LCU with a time of 20:17 for 58^th place finish. She was followed by Kirstie Whipple (20:55, 78^th) and Tashah Overbo (21:17, 92^nd). Also competing for the Lady Chaps in the 5k run were Allix Hardin (22:08, 114^th), Kayla Ingraham (22:17, 119^th) and Erin Bailey (23:09, 136^th). The Lady Chaps average completion time was 21:23 and LCU finished 16th among the 20 teams competing. Wayland Baptist University won the team event with an average finishing time of 19:20. Obsie Birru of Grand View topped the field of 170 runners with a time of 17:30.

Lady Chaps Finish Third

LEVELLAND, Texas (October 10, 2011) - Lubbock Christian University finished in third place at the South Plains College Collegiate Cross Country Festival, with their top finish coming from a 13^th place finish by Kirstie Whipple in the women's cross country event. Whipple completed the race in a time of 20:37. Amanda Lopez was not far behind with a 15^th place finish at 20:44. Tashad Overbo (21:05, 17^th), Allix Hardin (21:58, 18^th) and Kayla Ingraham (22:07, 19th) all finished in order. Also competing for LCU was Erin Bailey, who finished 23^rd with a mark of 23:38. The Lady Chaps average completion time was 21:18 to finish third in the team standings. SPC won the event averaging a completion time of 19:00. Darroneshia Lott of SPC won the individual title with a finish of 18:02.

LCU Competes In Annual Classic

STILLWATER, Okla. (October 2, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals cross country team competed in the 75^th Annual Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State University and the Lady Chaps finished in 23^rd place out of 32 teams in the college division. Amanda Lopez had the top finish for the Lady Chaps, as she finished in 104^th with a time of 21:05. The Lady Chaps were packed together, as Kirstie Whipple (115^th, 21:26) and Tashah Overbo (118^th, 21:27) finished less than a second apart from each ther and less than 30 seconds behind Lopez. Allix Hardin was not too far behind them, as she finished 165^th with a time of 22:58. Also running with the Lady Chaps was Kayla Ingraham (172, 23:09) and Erin Bailey (179^th, 23:37). LCU finished in 23^rd with an average completion time of 22:01. Friends University completed a solid finish to win the event, as they had four runners finish in the top six, with Jordan Arnold winning the event with a time of 18:11 among the field of 264 runners. Friends averaged a finishing time of 18:47.

Lady Chaps Run in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY (September 24, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals cross country team competed in the Oklahoma City Fall Invitational and finished in seventh place Saturday. Amanda Lopez was the top finisher for the Lady Chaps, finishing in 25^th place with a time of 21:27. Tasha Overbo was 20 seconds behind Lopez and finished in 31^st place. Kirstie Whipple also finished in the top-40 with a time of 22:32 for 37^th place. Also competing for LCU was Kayla Ingraham (23:20, 42^nd), Allix Hardin (23:25, 45^th) and Erin Bailey (24:11, 55^th). Brook Klimek of University of Central Oklahoma won the event in a time of 19:20. UCO won the team event as well with three runners finishing in the top six spots. LCU finished seventh of the eight teams and fourth out of the five Sooner Athletic Conference squads competing.

Lady Chaps Open Season

ABILENE, Texas (September 10, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals cross country team opened the 2011 running season with a fourth place finish at Billy Libby Invitational hosted by McMurry University at Nelson Park. Amanda Lopez was the leading runner for LCU with a time of 26:05 to finish in 10^th place. Four LCU runners finished in the top-20, as Kirstie Whipple (26:51, 13^th), Tashah Overbo (26:56, 14^th) and Kayla Ingraham (27:48, 18^th) joined Lopez in the top-20. Also running for LCU was Allix Hardin (28:38, 26^th) and Erin Bailey (30:23, 27^th). The field was composed of 32 runners representing six schools, with four teams competing in team point standings. McMurry won the 6k event with an average time of 25:24, with Aisisha Guerra winning the event in a time of 24:21. LCU will next run Friday at the Texas Tech Invitational at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Lubbock.

Shedd Leads Lady Chap Runners

STILLWATER, Okla. (September 25, 2010) – Lubbock Christian University’s women’s cross country team participated in the 74th annual Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State University and the Lady Chaparrals finished the 5k run in 21st among the field of 30 teams.

It was a tough field for the Lady Chaps, as Petersburg native Britney Shedd was the lone LCU finisher in the top-100. Shedd finished in 91st place in a time of 21:22. Valerie Calderon (22:06, 113th) and Kirstie Whipple (22:19, 122nd) finished within a minute behind Shedd. Also competing for LCU:

The average time for the Lady Chaps was 22:39. Midwestern State (Texas) won the event with an average time of 19:25. The field consisted of 214 participants and leading the way individually was Florence Ngetich of El Paso Community College with a time of 17:55.

Lady Chaps Finish 7th

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 17, 2010) – Lubbock Christian University competed in the Texas Tech Open cross country race at Meadowbrook Golf Course Friday evening and the Lady Chaparrals finished in seventh place.

Britney Shedd was LCU’s top finisher. She competed the 5k run in a time of 21:45 for a 38^th place finish. Kirstie Whipple (22:31, 46^th) and Val Calderon (22:53, 49^th) also finished in the top-50 for LCU.

The Lady Chaps finished the event with an average finish time of 23:12 for 189 points. The event was won by Texas Tech, who finished with an average time of 17:32 and had the top six finishers. Rose Tanui won the event with a time of 17:15.

Lady Chaps Finish Third In First Event

ABILENE, Texas (September 11, 2010) - The Lubbock Christian University women’s cross country team opened the 2010 running season with a third place team finish at the Bill Libby Invitational hosted by McMurry University at Grover Nelson Park.

The Lady Chaps produced two top-ten finishers, as Kirstie Whipple matched her finish from last season’s race finishing fifth (22:29) and Britney Shed finished 24 seconds behind Whipple in seventh place (22:53). Also finishing in the top-20 for LCU was Val Calderon, who finished 18^th with a time of 24:30 in the 4k competition.
