By: Chris Due
LUBBOCK, Texas (November 29, 2011) - Lubbock Christian University Athletic Director Paul Hise has announced that Babak Abouzar has resigned his position as head women's soccer coach of the Lady Chaparrals to pursue other coaching opportunities.
"I have been truly blessed to have worked at LCU for the past two seasons," said Abouzar. "I appreciate the opportunity to work with so many exceptional student-athletes, talented coaches, and dedicated administrators and staff. I am confident that the future is bright for LCU women’s soccer."
Abouzar was the first coach in program history and coached the Lady Chaps the past two seasons. He compiled a 14-18-4 record in two seasons, leading the Lady Chaps to two straight Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament appearances. LCU went 9-8-2 during the program’s inaugural season in 2010 and wrapped up this past season with a 5-10-2 record.
The LCU Athletic Department is currently reviewing applicants to replace Abouzar. They are still accepting coaching applicants and are looking to have a replacement in place in the soon to prepare for the 2012 season.
