Lady Chaps Finish 2 in Top-10

AMARILLO, Texas (September 27, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals received top-ten finishes from Anna Schopp and Shelbye Hill to finish fourth at the Lady Buff Stampede hosted by West Texas A&M University.

 

Schopp was unable to improve off her opening round score of 75 and the 76 in the second round placed her with a seventh place finish with a 151.  It was a trend the Lady Chaps struggled with on Tuesday, as the Lady Chaps shot a 313 for the round after opening play Monday with a 307. Rachael Dansby had the only improved score in the second round for LCU, as she followed an 83 with an 81 to finish tied for 34th with a 164.  Hill finished in a share for 10th with a 154 (76, 78). Finishing a stroke behind Hill with a 155 (77, 78) for LCU was Sinae Montoya, who finished in a share of 13th.  Macalee Lane rounded out the team scoring with a 161 (79,82) to finish in a tie for 28th.  Individual medalists competing for the Lady Chaps was Savanna Stavinoha (77, 87 = tied for 34th) and Sarah Schwertner (93, 95 = 188; 55th).

 

The Lady Chaps finished in fourth place with their team score of 620, finishing nine strokes behind third place University of Central Oklahoma.  West Texas A&M won the event with a 601 (300, 301).  Alisa White of the Lady Buffs won the event with a 144 (70, 74) at the Tascosa Country Club.
