Monahan's Hill Signs With LCU

LUBBOCK, Texas (February 18. 2010) - Lubbock Christian University head women’s golf coach John Dansby is proud to announce that Shelbye Hill of Monahan High School signed a letter of intent to play for the Lady Chaparrals golf team for the 2010-2011 school year.
Hill, a senior, is a part of Monahan’s varsity golf team for the fourth year in a row. She was a district medalist the previous two years, and became the first in school history to earn state medalist (2009). Hill was voted the MVP of the girl’s golf program in 2009 as well. In 2008, she was voted the West Region Player of the Year by the North Texas Professional Golf Association junior tour.
Hill has been a member of the Monahan Big Green Marching Band for the past four years, playing the flute and piccolo. She holds office for the Future Teacher’s Association and has been a member for the previous three years. Hill is currently student teaching for a 7th grade English class. Hill has been a student trainer for all sports the previous two years and plans to major in Exercise and Sports Sciences at LCU.
The No. 9 Lady Chaps will compete in their first tournament of the spring semester February 22-23 at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor Spring Invitational in Salado, Texas.
