Lady Chaps Finish In Third

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 6, 2011) – The No.12 Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals golf team had a 14 stroke improvement from the first round to the second round and it resulted in a third place finish at the Quail Creek Classic hosted by Oklahoma City University at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club.
Sinae Montoya and Anne Schoop each finished in the top-ten for LCU. Montoya led LCU with an 80 in the second round to help lead the team with a sixth place finish with a 166 (86-80). Schoop finished three strokes behind Montoya with a 169 (87-82), which ranked tied for ninth. Shelbye Hill ranked tied for 12th with a total score of 171 (87-84), and Rachael Dansby, who matched Montoya for LCU’s best opening round score (86), finished with a 172 (86-86) to tie for 14th. Kelsey Inman finished in 19th with a 176 (89-87). LCU’s Macalee Lane (85-84=169, tied-ninth place) and Kiersten Pack (89-89=178, 20th place) each competed in medalist play individually.
LCU posted a team score of 346 in the opening round and responded with a 332 in the second round. They finished five strokes behind Wayland Baptist (331-342=673), and Oklahoma City University claimed the event with a 663 (340-323). LCU led the event in par-five scoring (5.43 average score) and in pars with 72.
OCU’s Laura’s Jones won the event with a 149 (74-87) on the par-72 6008-yard layout.
