Lady Chaps Picked Third

OKLAHOMA CITY (October 18, 2011) - Oklahoma City University is picked to win a third consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball title, according to the coaches' preseason poll, which also had the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals selected third.
Oklahoma City was the runaway winner in the poll, collecting nine of 12 first-place votes and coming away with 119 points in the poll. Southern Nazarene got the remaining three first-place votes and finished second in the balloting with 113 points. Lubbock Christian was third on all but three ballots and finished third in the voting at 100. Rogers State rounded out the top four with 78 points.
The middle four starts with a tie for fifth place between John Brown and Wayland Baptist, each with 73 points. Oklahoma Baptist is picked seventh at 66 and Oklahoma Christian is ranked eighth in the poll with 60 points. Mid-America Christian is ranked ninth with 41 points, followed by Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 10th at 26, Northwestern Oklahoma State in 11th with 24 points and St. Gregory's with 19 points.
The Stars have gone 41-3 the last two seasons in the conference action. The conference boasted five 20-game winners last season. Oklahoma City and SNU won 27 each, followed by Lubbock Christian and Rogers State with 23 each and John Brown with 20.
The SAC Women were 64-32 as a group last season in non-conference games, including the national tournament.
