Hampton Claims SAC Honor

OKLAHOMA CITY (December 12, 2011) - For a second consecutive week and for a third time this season, a member of the No.17 Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals has claimed Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as Nicole Hampton received the honor Monday.  

Nicole helped LCU to their first 3-0 start in conference play since the 2008/09 season with a 21-point outburst for a career high performance in a 67-56 victory at Wayland Baptist University on Thursday.  She opened the game 7-for-7 from the field before finishing 7-for-9.  The freshman guard from Canyon, Texas was 1-for-1 from three-point range and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. She also had six rebounds and two steals in the win.

Emily Atkins received the honor last week and Brittany Roberts claimed the award earlier in the season.  This is the first SAC honor for Hampton.  The Lady Chaps are enjoying the Christmas Break with a 6-3 overall record (3-0 in conference) and they will return to action with an exhibition game inside Rip Griffin Center on Dec. 28 against Austin Elite before heading to Southern Nazarene to resume conference play on Dec. 31.
