Six Players Earn All-SAC Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY (November 11, 2011) - The Sooner Athletic Conference announced postseason honors for volleyball and leading the way for Lubbock Christian University, who had six players honored, was First Team recipients Jordan Goings, Brittany Johnson and Bailey Jones. Goings was also honored as the Setter of the Year and Abby White claimed Freshman of the Year accolades.
Goings, a senior from Aledo, Texas, heads into the SAC Tournament 13th in the NAIA in assists per set with a SAC leading mark of 10.8. She also heads into the tournament with 927 assists on the season (73 shy of 1,000) and with 3,765 in her LCU career, which ranks fourth all-time in program history. Goings claimed six SAC Setter of the Week honors this season. She will leave LCU as a three-time First Team All-SAC member and three-time SAC Setter of the Year recipient.
Johnson, who claimed Second Team honors as a sophomore, claims First Team honors as a junior. The middle blocker from Lubbock heads into the SAC Tournament leading the SAC in blocks per set (1), and she ranked second in conference matches with 55 blocks. She is also ranking fourth in the SAC in hitting (.272) and sixth in kills per set (2.9). Johnson has 288 kills and 100 blocks on the season. She is a two-time SAC Hitter of the Week and received Player of the Week honors once.
Opposite side hitter Jones claimed Hitter of the Week honors last week and joins the First Team list after ranking fifth in the SAC with a .266 hitting percentage. The junior from Lubbock, Texas ranks tied for fifth in blocks per set (.8) in the SAC. She was a Second Team member last season.
Middle blocker Caitlin Kender was named to the Second Team All-SAC list and libero Nikki Ralston received Honorable Mention honors. Kender, a junior from Lubbock, heads into the tournament with a team-leading .276 hitting percentage, which is third in the SAC. Ralston, a Second Team member last season, ranks fifth in the SAC in aces (34) and is seventh in digs per set (4.1). The junior from Bakersfield, Calif. and Amarillo Tascosa High School graduate leads LCU with 430 digs.
White claimed conference Freshman of the Year honors. The Amarillo native has appeared in 23 matches and has produced 175 digs and 143 kills. She is an outside hitter and also has 19 blocks.
