Goings and Jones Honored

OKLAHOMA CITY (November 8, 2011) - Lubbock Christian University setter Jordan Goings has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Volleyball Player and Setter of the Week in the final weekly awards for the sport, Oct. 31-Nov. 6.  In addition to Goings, LCU teammate Bailey Jones was named Hitter of the Week.

Goings, a senior from Aledo, Texas, averaged a double-double in wins over Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma City to seal the No. 3 seed in the upcoming SAC Tournament. She averaged 11.63 assists and 3.88 digs per set with 47 assists and 14 digs against SNU and 48 assists and 17 digs against OCU - all fresh off an injury.  She also had 14 kills, four blocks and an ace on the week.

Jones, a junior from Lubbock, Texas, averaged 4.88 kills and had a .270 attack percentage for the Lady Chaps.  She also had 11 digs and four blocks.  Jones connected on a career high 21 kills against Southern Nazarene.

It is the sixth time Goings has received SAC Setter of the Week honors and her first SAC Player of the Week honor.  The honor for Jones is her first.
