SHAWNEE, Okla. (March 4, 2010) – No. 5 Lubbock Christian University opened their Sooner Athletic Conference road schedule with two victories over Oklahoma Baptist University Thursday afternoon, with 9-5 and 8-0 victories to improve to 16-0 on the season.

The Lady Chaps got out to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a Priscilla FaGaines two-run home run (her eighth of the season). LCU added two more runs in the fourth inning off of three hits. Kim Frazier hit her 15th homerun of the season in the top of the fifth inning to increase the Lady Chap’s lead to 9-1. The Lady Bison added four more runs but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Brandi Luck (1-0), who relieved Alyssa Gutierrez after three scoreless innings, recorded the win for LCU after four different pitchers were used. Amanda Hanner dropped her record to 1-3 with the loss. Amanda Parsons went 3-for-3 and Clarissa Maldonado went 3-for-4 in the first game.

Alyssa Gutierrez improved her record to 9-0 on the year and pitched her fifth complete game shutout of the season. She allowed just two hits in the game.  The Lady Chaps scored runs in the first four innings of the game. Frazier blasted a solo homerun in her first at-bat of the game for her 16th of the season. LCU got a run off of two hits by Amanda Myers and Cori Enriquez in the second inning.  Frazier started the third inning by reaching base on an error and advanced to third on a FaGaines’ double. Maldonado hit a two-RBI single in the inning and later scored on a single by Enriquez. Lubbock Christian scored three runs on three hits in the inning. The Lady Chaps added three insurance runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-0. Maldonado had another solid game, going 2-for-3 with three runs-batted-in to combine for a 5-for-7 afternoon.
