Van Dieren Does It

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 19, 2011) - Lubbock Christian University’s Kayla Van Dieren has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for April 11-17.
Van Dieren, a senior outfielder from Placentia, Calif., was 11-of-14 (.786) in leading the Lady Chaps to sweeps of University of the Southwest and Oklahoma Christian University. She had a double, a triple and three home runs for a 1.643 slugging percentage and drove in eight runs. Van Dieren also scored nine times. She had at least two hits in each game and was 7-for-7 in the doubleheader against USW.
The honor for Van Dieren is her first of the season, and it marks the second consecutive week a Lady Chap has claimed the honor. Priscilla FaGaines claimed the honor last week. Van Dieren marks the third Lady Chap to claim the honor, joining FaGaines and Kim Frazier, who claimed the honor on February 21st. LCU returns to action Thursday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader in Shawnee, Okla. at St. Gregory’s University.
