Forbes Leads The List

OKLAHOMA CITY (November 11, 2011) - The Sooner Athletic Conference awarded their annual postseason honors for men's soccer and Lubbock Christian University was well represented headlined by Billy Forbes, who claimed Player of the Year, Offensive MVP, Newcomer of the Year and First Team accolades. Also receiving honors for LCU was Byron Knowles and Jorge Martinez, who were each named to the Second Team.
Forbes, a junior from Turks & Caicos Islands, led the SAC and ranks third nationally in the NAIA with 23 goals. Nine of his goals were game-winning goals (third in the NAIA). He led LCU and the SAC with 52 points (third in the NAIA) in 21 games. Forbes produced eight multi-goal games and a pair of hat tricks. His 5.2 shots per game ranked sixth in the NAIA.
Knowles helped anchor a defense that produced five shutouts. The freshman Costa Rica native served as a defender for the Chaps and produced a pair of goals and an assist in 21 games. He had 31 shots on the season.
Martinez, a sophomore from Lewisville, Texas, led LCU with eight assists in 21 games. He had two goals and 12 points on the season. His eight assists ranked third in the SAC.
