Familiar Name To Join Chaps

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 13, 2011) – Lubbock Christian University men’s golf head coach Gary Belt announced Lubbock Christian High School’s Jonathan Dansby has signed a letter of intent to join the Chaparrals golf program.
Jonathan is the son of LCU women’s golf head coach John Dansby. He has had success all four years at LCHS on and off the links. As a freshman, he carried an 81 average and was the district champion. The Eagles golf squad finished the season as the state runner-up in TAPPS Class 3A while Dansby was a freshman. They repeated as the state runner-up as a sophomore and he finished fifth in state to claim First Team All-State honors. He averaged a 78 per round as a sophomore and won the regional tournament en route to the state tournament. Dansby has averaged a 77 per round over his junior and senior seasons. He claimed district and regional individual titles as a junior and finished third at the state tournament to claim First Team All-State honors for a second consecutive time. The Eagles also finished as state runner-ups for a third consecutive season with Dansby on the squad. Dansby just recently repeated as the district and regional champion and is currently preparing for the state tournament in McKinney.
Dansby’s success on the course has leaked into the classroom. He holds a 4.0 GPA and ranks third in his class. The four-year National Honor Society member has excelled in band and has received numerous band accolades. He was a two-time member of LCHS’s state championship band program.
