Chaps Finish Tied for Seventh

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 20, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University men's golf team hosted the Chaps Fall Invitational, which concluded play Tuesday with LCU finishing tied for seventh among the 12-team field at LakeRidge Country Club.

LCU finished tied with Hutchinson Community College, as they each had a 903 team score.  The Chaps opened with their best round with a score of 295.  The followed with a 300 in the second round and a 308 in the final round.  Josh Mahan was their lone top-20 finisher.  He finished tied for 20^th with a 223 (79, 69, 75).  His middle round 69 was the team's lowest round shot.  Leon Scheepers (73, 77, 76) and Niel DuPreez (71, 76, 79) each finished tied for 30^th with a 226.  Also competing in the team scoring for LCU was Facundo Garcia (229, tied-40^th) and Nicolas Cornu (240, 61^st). 

The Chaps fielded an alternate team, which was led by Jonathan Dansby (229, tied-40^th).  Cameron Swarb of LCU competed individually as a medalist and led the field in par-three scoring (-1).  He finished tied for 34^th with a 227.

Wayland Baptist University won the event with a team score of 870 (287, 293, 290).  They were led by Bradley Sinnett, who shot a 209 (69, 73, 67).  The course was a par 72 layout covering 6,739 yards with 72 golfers competing.
