Chaps Finish Tied for Seventh

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 20, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University men's golf team hosted the Chaps Fall Invitational, which concluded play Tuesday with LCU finishing tied for seventh among the 12-team field at LakeRidge Country Club.
LCU finished tied with Hutchinson Community College, as they each had a 903 team score. The Chaps opened with their best round with a score of 295. The followed with a 300 in the second round and a 308 in the final round. Josh Mahan was their lone top-20 finisher. He finished tied for 20th with a 223 (79, 69, 75). His middle round 69 was the team's lowest round shot. Leon Scheepers (73, 77, 76) and Niel DuPreez (71, 76, 79) each finished tied for 30th with a 226. Also competing in the team scoring for LCU was Facundo Garcia (229, tied-40th) and Nicolas Cornu (240, 61st).
The Chaps fielded an alternate team, which was led by Jonathan Dansby (229, tied-40th). Cameron Swarb of LCU competed individually as a medalist and led the field in par-three scoring (-1). He finished tied for 34th with a 227.
Wayland Baptist University won the event with a team score of 870 (287, 293, 290). They were led by Bradley Sinnett, who shot a 209 (69, 73, 67). The course was a par 72 layout covering 6,739 yards with 72 golfers competing.
