Mahan Earns An Alternate Spot

August 4, 2010 (August 4, 2010) -  Lubbock Christian University men's golf incoming freshman Josh Mahan earned a spot as an alternate from the area sectional after finishing third in the USGA Amateur Sectional Qualifier at The Rawls Course.

Mahan, who graduated last spring from Frenship High School, finished with a 141 for his 36-hole total.  He opened with a 69, placing him second overall, but fell to third after shooting par with a 72 in the final round.  Winning the event was Matt Smith (138), who is an Australian native attending Texas Tech.  Frisco native and Mississippi State golfer John Darden was second with a 139 and also finished as alternate along with Mahan.
