Pair of Chaps Earn Scholarly Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 1, 2010) - The NAIA announced 91 golfers have earned the distinction of being named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete in men's golf and two Chaparrals can claim that honor this season. Seniors Jake Mahan and Trevor Turnbow of Lubbock Christian University claimed the honor

Mahan is a native of Lubbock, Texas and Turnbow calls Muleshoe, Texas his home.  They were the first men's golf recipients of the honor last season and now they are the first two-time recipients in men's golf.  Mahan studied Business Administration and Turnbow placed his focuses in Business Administration.  In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

During the 2009-2010 school campaign, LCU has produced nine Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.
