Chaps Finish Fourth in SAC

SHAWNEE, Okla. (November 5, 2011) - Izzy Miranda earned his third trip to the NAIA National Championships by finishing 10^th at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships, and he led his team to a fourth place finish at the event. 

Miranda may have company on his trip to nationals, as the NAIA will release the team qualifiers this week and it could allow for additional individual qualifiers based on their performance at the conference championship event.  The 10^th place finish for Miranda came at a time of 25:51.  David Sambrano was 15^th with a time of 26:05.  Trey Bale also finished in the top-30 for LCU with a completion time of 26:52.  Also competing for LCU was Carsten Russell (36^th,27:22), Lucas Morris (53^rd, 28:15), Matt Rodriguez (60^th, 28:50), and Jordan Wilson (64^th, 29:13).

LCU completed the race with an average finish of 26:53.  Oklahoma Christian University won the event with an average time of 24:59.  The race was won by Kennedy Kethuka, who completed the 8k event in a time of 23:29.
