Quick Turn-over-around For Chaps

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (November 19, 2011) - Less than 18 hours following a school record 36 turnovers in Friday's loss to Our Lady of the Lake University, Lubbock Christian University committed a season-low 12 turnovers and used a career-best 12 points from Aaron Plunkett to defeat University of St. Thomas 64-49 to close their play in the 2011 Halo Classic.
LCU had no problem controlling the game. They never trailed by less than 10 points once taking a 22-12 lead with under eight minutes remaining in the first half. The Chaps led 34-17 at halftime and built the lead in the second half to as much as a 21-point lead at 46-25. LCU was 44.9% (22/49) from the field, while UST was .422 (19/45). The statistical difference in the game was LCU nailing eight three pointers compared to one by the Celts. The Chaps were 8/19 (42.1%) from three-point range.
Plunkett, a juco transfer from Navarro College, was 5-of-6 from the field in his solid shooting outing. Travis Lampley had 10 points in the losing effort for UST. The Chaps improved their record to 3-2 with the win, while the Celts fell to 2-3. LCU remains on the road and completes a span of three games in four days Monday with a 7:30 p.m. tip in Fort Worth, Texas against Texas Wesleyan.
