LUBBOCK, Texas (January 5, 2012) - No.3 Oklahoma Baptist University used a 13-0 run in the second half and 19 points from Emmanuel Wilson to defeat Lubbock Christian University 80-71 Thursday night in Sooner Athletic Conference play inside Rip Griffin Center.

LCU had just went on a 10-2 run, with five of the points coming from Anthony Brancato, to cut the deficit to 55-49 with 12:34 remaining before a timeout was called by OBU.  Following the timeout, OBU responded on the 13-0 run to take a 68-49 lead with 9:19 remaining.  Rashad Sample, who led LCU with 17 points, tallied eight straight points to help LCU outscore OBU 12-3 down the final 4:25, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

The Chaps had a hot start to the game.  Douglass Williams nailed a three-pointer to open the scoring and LCU eventually led 11-7 with 13:47 remaining in the first half.  OBU then went on a 10-1 run to take a 17-12 lead and a lead they would never let go of.  OBU outscored LCU 11-1 in second chance scoring and it allowed OBU to take a 40-29 lead into the half.  Williams had nine points in the half for the Chaps, while Heath McKay and DeAngelo McIntosh each had 11 points.

Both teams shot over 55% from the field, as OBU shot 55.6% (30/54) and LCU shot 55.1% (27/49). OBU nailed 10 three-pointers (10/18) and shot 55.6% from beyond the arc.  LCU was 5-of-14 from long range (35.7%).  LCU came in leading the NAIA in free-throw percentage, but they shot a lackluster 54.5% (12/22) from the free-throw line.  McIntosh (15 points) and Jacobi Isham (13 points) joined Wilson and McKay with double figures offensively for the Bison.  Along with the 17 points supplied by Sample, LCU received 12 points Brancato and 11 from Williams.

The Chaps fell at home for the first time with the loss (3-1) and they move to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the SAC.  OBU remains perfect at 13-0 overall and 6-0 in conference.  The Chaps remain home Saturday and host St. Gregory's University at 3 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center.
