LUBBOCK, Texas (June 10, 2011) – The NAIA World Series Runner-Up Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals were recognized with three NAIA All-Americans, as Richard Bohlken (First Team), Ryan Meade (First Team) and Nate Peterson (Second Team) received honors.
Bohlken, who also claimed a pair of scholar-athlete honors, is a junior from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He co-led the NAIA in home runs with 23 and he has 49 career home runs, marking him one shy of becoming the seventh player in program history to eclipse 50 career home runs with the Chaps. He batted .367 on the season and finished second in the NAIA with 179 total bases.
Meade, a Lewis Center, Ohio native, completed his senior season with a team-leading .451 batting average and 81 runs-batted-in. His 81 RBI ranked second in the NAIA. He also ranked fourth in the NAIA with a .821 slugging percentage.
Peterson is a native of Aurora, Ill, who just completed his senior season. He batted .370 with 68 hits to go along with a team-leading 47 walks. His on base percentage was a .506.
The trio places LCU with 79 NAIA All-Americans in baseball and 16 under head coach Nathan Blackwood’s tenure. Eight members have been First Team members under Blackwood. The Chaps have produced at least one First Team member six consecutive seasons. It is the first time since 2009 that LCU has had three members receive All-American accolades in the same season, and 2009 also marked the last time they have produced a pair of First Team Members. The last time LCU had a pair of First Team recipients in the same season prior to 2009 was 1996.
