Chaps Open Season Feb. 3rd

LUBBOCK, Texas (November 29, 2011) - The Lubbock Christian University baseball program and head coach Nathan Blackwood have finalized their 2012 schedule, which has the Chaparrals opening their 2012 campaign Feb. 3, 2011 in Cedar Hill, Texas against Northwood University (Texas).
The 50-game schedule has the Chaps opening their season in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Feb. 3rd with four games on the opening weekend. After opening with a three-game series with Northwood, LCU will play Sunday, Feb. 5th in Fort Worth at Texas Wesleyan. The first home game is scheduled for Feb. 10th with a doubleheader against York College (Neb.). The Chaps have 26 home games scheduled for the season.
The 30-game Sooner Athletic Conference season begins Feb. 24th with Oklahoma Christian visiting Hays Field. The Chaps will host conference foes Oklahoma Christian, University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, St. Gregory's, Oklahoma City and Wayland Baptist this season. The Chaps series with Wayland Baptist will remain in the same format as last season, with the series played out over a series of weeknights. Instead of playing a three-game continuous series, the two teams will play April 2nd (at LCU), April 17th (at Wayland) and April 23rd (at LCU).
The Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament is scheduled for May 2-5 and Oklahoma City will serve as the host. Opening Round play in the NAIA National Championship is scheduled for May 10-14th (sites to be determined) and the 2012 NAIA World Series is set for May 25-June 1st in Lewiston, Idaho.
