SAC Cup Final Standings Announced
By: Ray Fink (SAC), Chris Due (LCU)
OKLAHOMA CITY (July 13, 2010) - The Sooner Athletic Conference awarded Oklahoma Baptist University as the recipient of the 2009-10 SAC Cup, with Lubbock Christian University finishing third in the mix.
The annual award measures the best athletics program for the year. Each of the 12 schools in the SAC are scored based on regular season standings. In sports in which standings are not relevant (track, cross country and golf) the conference meet or tournament results are used.
Additional bonus points are awarded for success in postseason play. A team can earn 10 bonus points for its school by winning the national championship, eight for being national runner-up, six for making the semifinals or top four and three for making the quarterfinals or top eight.
Each university’s top six sports count toward its total. Only sports in which six or more schools compete are counted as a conference sport.
The Standings:
Oklahoma Baptist 379
Oklahoma City 375
Lubbock Christian 333
Oklahoma Christian 331
Southern Nazarene 316
Wayland Baptist 305
