Chaps Hold Off Rangers

ALVA, Okla (March 5, 2010) – The defending NAIA National Champion Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals open a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series and a doubleheader against Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 1 p.m. from Myers Stadium.
LCU is 12-6 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play after winning their opening SAC series against University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma. LCU leads the NAIA in doubles (54) and is batting .328 as a team. David Cruz and Richard Bohlken each have nine doubles to rank fifth in the NAIA in the category. The pitching staff has an ERA of 3.16 and is fifth in the NAIA with 128 strikeouts.
NWOSU surprised Wayland Baptist last weekend winning two of three games in the series to take a 2-1 conference record. The Rangers are 11-3 overall and ranking sixth in the NAIA with a pace of 1.4 home runs per game. They are batting .346 as a team and their staff ERA is 4.63. Tom O’Gorman is seventh in the NAIA with six homers on the season.
