Lady Chaps 2018 Volleyball Schedule Announced

New Opponents Highlight Aug. 24th Season-Opener

LUBBOCK, Texas (June 23, 2017) – Lubbock Christian University volleyball head coach Jennifer Lawrence has finalized the 2018 schedule, which has the Lady Chaparrals opening the season Aug. 24 in Canyon, Texas against Rockhurst in the opening match of the 2018 Lady Buff Classic. Their home opener is set for Sept. 6 against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
 
The season opening tournament hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon is one of four regular season tournaments the Lady Chaps will partake in. Their first two matches in Canyon are against opponents LCU will meet for the first time in program history (Rockhurst and Emporia State). LCU will head to Salt Lake City, Utah Aug. 31 – Sept. 1 to participate in the Westminster Invitational, before heading home to host the Chap Classic. They open play in the Chap Classic Sept. 6 hosting SWOSU (7 p.m.). They follow hosting Washburn and Arkansas – Monticello in the Chap Classic. Six of the first 11 matches for LCU are against opponents they have never faced in program history. (Rockhurst, Emporia State, Minnesota State – Mankato, Truman State, Washburn and Arkansas – Monticello). 
 
Opponents turn familiar for LCU with their last tournament Sept. 13-15 in Carrollton, Texas, as LCU will play four contests against Heartland Conference opponents in non-conference play as part of a conference preview event. Heartland Conference play gets underway Sept. 27 at home hosting St. Mary's. The 12-game conference schedule will run through Nov. 3. 
 
The Lady Chaps will play their final five regular season matches at home to complete a 12-game home schedule this season. They have 30 matches scheduled for the regular season.
 
The four-team Heartland Conference tournament will be held at the highest seed Nov. 9-10, with the champion advancing to the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament. LCU has qualified for the conference tournament in each of the three seasons they have been eligible for it.
 
The Lady Chaps concluded the 2017 season with an overall record of 10-17 and an 7-5 mark in conference play (third place finish). The 2018 season marks LCU's final season in the Heartland Conference.
