KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Defending national champion Lubbock Christian University (Texas) claims the No. 1 ranking in the 2010 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, announced by the NAIA on Tuesday. The Chaps, who finished last year with a 52-8 record and its second World Series title, gathered 23 of the possible 24 first-place votes and 684 total points.

Lubbock holds the top spot for the eighth straight poll, dating back to the second Top 25 poll last year (March 17). Lubbock heads into the season with two Preseason All-Americans in Ross Blondin and R.L. Eisenbach.

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 26, 2009) - Houston Baptist University transfer Tristan Gaines allowed just one hit in five innings and reliever Shane Ingram pitched a pair of hitless ball to help combine for a one-hitter to help the Red Ducks shutout the Blue Ducks 7-0 in game-three of the Lubbock Christian University annual Duck/Skunk fall baseball series. The win by the Ducks closes out the fall season, as they swept the best-of-five series 3-0.

Christian Soberanes supplied the Ducks their lone hit of the game, and it came with two outs in the fifth inning. Skunks pitcher Tyler Rogers pitched four innings and allowed just one run off three hits.... Full Story

 

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 24, 2009) – R.L. Eisenbach pitched five scoreless innings to lead the Red Ducks to a 10-3 victory over the Blue Ducks Saturday in game-two of the Lubbock Christian University annual Duck-Skunk Fall Baseball Series for a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Eisenbach had nine strikeouts in the five innings and allowed just three hits.  The Ducks received offensive production from Rafael Thomas, Marc Gomez and Joe Staley, who each had two runs-batted-in.  The Ducks produced four of their ten runs in the top of the sixth inning.... Full Story

 
LUBBOCK, Texas (October 23, 2009) - The Red Ducks rallied with five runs in the top of the seventh inning to steal game-one of the annual Lubbock Christian University Duck-Skunk Fall Baseball Series (best-of-five) 12-11 Friday afternoon at Hays Field. Doug Kroll led the Ducks with a pair of homers and four RBI in a two-for-two batting performance. The Skunks were led by Cody Plank, who was three-for-four with three home runs and five RBI. LUBBOCK, Texas (October 23, 2009) - Lubbock Christian University baseball program’s annual "Duck-Skunk" fall intrasquad baseball series begins today at Hays Field with a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.

The best-of-five series dates back to the fall of 1970 when then-LCC (Lubbock Christian College) head coach Larry Hays devised the series to celebrate the end of fall practices, but the name Duck/Skunk dates back to 1962, when LCC’s first baseball team needed uniforms, and the Post Cereal Mill generously donated some left-over uniforms with a Skunk on them. Duck/Skunk is basically an intersquad matchup with bragging rights on the line.... Full Story
