Belt joined the men's golf program in December of 2010.  A native of Mesquite, Texas, Belt comes to LCU after ten seasons serving as the men’s and women’s head golf coach at Cedar Hill based Northwood University (Texas).  Belt, who also served as the associate athletic director and sports information director at Northwood, led the Northwood golf programs to eight NAIA National Championship appearances on the women’s side and four on the men’s side.  He leaves a women’s program that is currently No.18 in the preseason polls. During his time at Northwood, Belt helped lead the women’s golf program to three Red River Athletic Conference titles, coached four NAIA All-Americans, mentored 12 NAIA Scholar Athletes, and claimed a pair of RRAC Coach of the Year honors (2008, 2010).  Belt is currently serving presidential terms of the NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches Association and the NAIA Women’s Golf Coaches Association.  He served as the RRAC Golf Chairman from 2008-2010 and is a member of the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Golf Oversight Committee.  Prior to joining the Northwood athletic department in 2001, he served as the director of marketing for Northwood for four years. 

 

Belt holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration degree from Garland based Amberton University.  He and his wife, Becky, have been married for 31 years, and the two have three sons and are expecting their first grandchild in June.
