LUBBOCK, Texas (February 11, 2014) – Lubbock Christian earned its first Heartland Conference softball award on Tuesday with Morgan Colburn garnering Hitter of the Week.

The junior infielder from Denver, Colo., led the Lady Chaps to a 4-0 series sweep over Eastern New Mexico on February 8 and 9, hitting a team-high .636 with two homeruns and five RBIs. Colburn recorded a 1.273 slugging percentage, a .714 on-base percentage and contributed 19 putouts. In the 8-3 victory over the Zias on Sunday, she tallied a game-high four hits, two RBIs and a homerun.

In the Heartland rankings, Colburn is tied with teammate Mallory Koschany for tops in batting average at .500, is first in slugging percentage at 1.000, second in on-base percentage at .583, second in homeruns with three , fifth in RBIs and total bases with five and 20, respectively, and seventh in runs scored with eight.

The Lady Chaps (7-0, 0-0 Heartland) begin conference play this week, traveling to play St. Mary's at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader on Friday, followed up by a single game at noon on Saturday.
