LUBBOCK, Texas (January 8, 2014) – The Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team received acknowledgment by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as the NSCAA honored the Lady Chaparrals as a Team Academic Award winner and as a Bronze Team Ethics Award recipient.
The Lady Chaps posted a 3.41 GPA and were one of 600 nationwide collegiate programs to post at least a 3.0 GPA on the season. They were one of six Heartland Conference programs to receive the scholarly honor, and LCU's GPA was the highest of the Heartland Conference members.
The NSCAA's ethics honor is a sportsmanship award recognizing programs in three categories (gold, silver, bronze) based on the number of cautions (red card and yellow card) issued during their season. Head coach Alex Denning's squad was one of 256 programs nationwide to be recognized, as they received bronze recognition for having less than 10 caution cards accumulated during the season.
LCU women's soccer finished the season 10-7 overall and finished third in the Heartland Conference with a 7-2 record.
