LUBBOCK, Texas (December 16, 2013) – Nicole Hampton received the Heartland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for a second consecutive week, as the Heartland Conference announced Hampton as this week's recipient Monday.

Hampton, a junior point guard from Canyon, Texas, led LCU to a seventh consecutive win Saturday and helped keep their record clean (5-0) in conference play with a game-high 19 points on the road at Oklahoma Christian. LCU won the game 79-59.  She was a rebound shy of a double-double and also added five assists. Hampton helped LCU to a season high 46 rebounds and a season high +11 rebounding margin against the conference's leading team in rebounds. Her 7-of-12 shooting performance has her averaging 16.7 points a contest (fifth in the conference). She also co-leads in steals per game (3.1), ranks fifth in assists per game (5.3) and sixth in rebounds per game (8.4).

The award is the second garnered by Hampton. She was a two-time Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week recipient last season. Winners of seven straight games, the Lady Chaps are 9-1 on the season overall and 5-0 in the Heartland Conference. They hit the holiday break and do not step back onto the hardwood until hosting St. Mary's University (Texas) Jan. 2, 2014.
