LUBBOCK, Texas (November 14, 2013) – Four members of the Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team were recognized as All-Conference by the Heartland Conference Thursday morning. Billy Forbes was named to the First Team, while teammates Justin Dupriest, Nick Gorrie and Erik Mozzo claimed Second Team honors.
Forbes, a senior from Turks & Caicos, led the entire Heartland Conference in points (41), points per game (2.4), goals (17) and goals per game (1). He also ranked second in shots (82), shots per game (4.8), tied for second in game winning goals (4), tied for third in assists (7) and is fourth in assists per game (.41).
Gorrie, a senior from Kilmonarch, Scotland, was second on the squad in points with 21. Eighteen of his points were tallied in conference play. He ranked tied for fourth in the conference in game winning goals (3), fifth in points per game (1.4), tied for sixth in goals (8), seventh in shots per game (2.9) and eighth in shots (43).
Dupriest is a senior defender from Keller, Texas. He started in all 17 games this season and spearheaded a defense that was second in the conference in goals allowed (19) and goals against average (1.10).
Senior goalkeeper Mozzo completes the list of Chaps honored. The Beaufort, S.C. native led the conference in save percentage (80.4%) and shutouts (7). His seven shutouts was a program single-season and career mark. He also ranked second in GAA (1.07) and was third in saves (74).
Despite finishing in first place in the conference, LCU had the third most All-Conference members. St. Edward's led the list with eight members and Texas A&M International was recognized with five members. LCU finished the season 11-5-1 with a conference best 8-1-0 conference mark.
