LUBBOCK, Texas (October 31, 2013) – Lubbock Christian University men's soccer goalkeeper Erik Mozzo was named to the 2013 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team for NCAA Div. II District Six.

Mozzo, a native of Beaufort, S.C., holds a 3.41 GPA and is majoring in Business Administration / Management. The second-year Chap and Clemson transfer is also having a solid season outside the classroom on the soccer pitch. The Chaps goalkeeper has started all 14 games and holds a 9-4-1 overall record. Mozzo leads the Heartland Conference in GAA (1.00), minutes in goal (1257), save percentage (82.1%) and shutouts (6).

He has helped LCU to a 9-4-1 overall record and a 6-1-0 mark in Heartland Conference play. Mozzo, this season's only Heartland Conference three-time Conference Defensive Player of the Week recipient, is the second LCU men's soccer student-athlete to claim Academic All-District accolades in program history. He now joins eight All-District goalkeepers as finalists for the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America Team selections. Last season, Tony Stock became the program's first recipient of the Academic All-District honor.

In order to be selected to an academic all-district team, a student-athlete must demonstrate success on the playing field and in the classroom, with academic and athletic achievements taken into consideration. The student-athlete must possess a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Leslie will now be a finalist to receive Academic All-America honors.
