FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (September 28, 2013) – Lubbock Christian University had a 3-0 lead in the first half against Dallas Christian College and then Mother Nature halted the game… or was it an administrative member. Play was halted just before halftime and it will go down in the books as a cancelled game, although LCU head coach Matt Barnes will opt to have the game under review.
LCU was leading 3-0 after a goal in the first five minutes by Nick Gorrie and a pair of goals that followed by Stewart Macdonell. Rain interrupted play just before the half and play was halted. Barnes was then informed by DCC's coaching staff that their administrator demanded the game be cancelled. DCC informed Barnes they did not want to continue the game because of unplayable conditions. Barnes was never informed an official ruling by a game official and is seeking an officials report.
Since the game did not reach the 70th minute, all statistics will be cleared and it is ruled as a cancelled game. If somehow DCC's refusal to continue to play results in a forfeit, statistics will still not count, but goalkeepers will still receive a decision and cautions handed out (if any) will still apply to their season totals.
LCU, who entered the day 3-2-1, will play Eastern New Mexico on the road in their next game Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
