OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (September 16, 2013) – Lubbock Christian sits in ninth place after carding a 650 on Monday at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic hosted by Oklahoma City University. The Lady Chaps fired a 321 in the first round and followed it up with a 329 on the par-72, 6,004-yard layout.


The 54-hole tournament features eight teams ranked in the final 2012-13 NAIA women's golf ratings, including No. 1 Oklahoma City, fifth-ranked LCU, No. 7 Northwood (Texas), ninth-ranked Wayland Baptist, No. 11 Bellevue (Neb.), No. 22 Rogers State, and Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) and Oklahoma Baptist, tied for the No. 25 spot.


Senior Shelbye Hill leads the way for LCU after shooting a 71 and 78, currently tied for eighth place in the 14-team tournament.


LCU managed 10 birdies on the day to go along with 73 pars, 24 of which came from Hill.


Host Oklahoma City leads all teams after a first round of 301 and a second at 294, totaling 595. Redlands Community College is not far behind at 598, followed closely by Rodgers State at 602 and Oklahoma Christian at 603. Lina Aguillon of Redlands leads the field with a score of 142, while Oklahoma Christian's Anna Arrese and India Matthews shot a 144 and 145, respectively.
