LUBBOCK, Texas (September 6, 2013) – Lubbock Christian University baseball players Logan Burch and Brett Kauten each had a memorable summer as teammates, as the two played with the Brazos Valley Bombers and were instrumental in a Texas Collegiate League Championship.

The Bryan, Texas based Bombers claimed their championship with a 7-5 win over the Victoria Generals. The title was the programs first in the TCL. The Bombers were also credited as the National Champions, as they were voted the top Summer Collegiate Team by Perfect Game (www.perfectgame.com).

Burch was the starting pitcher in the championship game for Brazos Valley. Kauten hit a key three-run bases loaded triple to tie the contest at 5-5.

During the season, Burch went 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA. He had 31 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched. Kauten was a TCL All-Star and also competed in the All-Star Game's Home Run Derby. He hit .312 with a co-league and co-team leading 42 runs scored. Kauten also had 20 stolen bases and produced three homers and 37 RBI. Each players are juniors and will return to LCU for the 2014 season.
