LUBBOCK, Texas (September 5, 2013) – Lubbock Christian University, who opened their season to a program best 12-0-0 mark last season, is off to another solid start after a 1-0 win over University of the Southwest (N.M.) Thursday afternoon in their season and home opener at LCU Soccer Field.

LCU jumped out to a quick lead in the contest, with freshman Jamie Boone taking advantage of a nice through-ball from Priscilla Brannon and converting on a breakaway opportunity with her first collegiate goal. The goal came just 4:32 into the contest.  The Lady Chaps controlled the first half tempo with a 15-3 shots advantage (6-1 advantage in shots on goal).

Southwest had opportunities for an equalizer with four second-half corner kicks, but Lauren Story stopped a pair of shots on goal in the half and sealed the win with her first career shutout. Story stopped three shots on goal in the game for her first career win in net.

The Lady Chaps out-shot USW 23-7 in the game and had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. USW goalkeeper Alejandra Espinoza kept the Mustangs in the game with seven saves off eight shots faced.

LCU is now 3-1-0 in season openers and all have been at home against USW. The Lady Chaps are also 19-4 all-time in non-conference games and have won 13 straight in that department. The game was the University's first game as a Heartland Conference member. LCU, 1-0-0, returns to the home pitch Saturday morning at 11 a.m. hosting Huston-Tillotson.
