LUBBOCK, Texas (August 5, 2013) – Lubbock Christian University baseball head coach Nathan Blackwood has announced that Justin Sundlie has joined the Chaparrals coaching staff as their new pitching coach.

Sundlie (sund-lee) returns to LCU for a third time in his career.  He originally came to LCU as a student-athlete for the Chaps baseball program. The former Chaps catcher was a NAIA All-American in 2005 and was part of the 2006 squad, which qualified for the NAIA World Series. Sundlie received his first head coaching gig in the 2010-2011 school term as the head coach of Valley Mills High School in Valley Mills, Texas.  He spent one season there before returning back to LCU to claim a graduate assistant coaching spot while completing a master's degree. Sundlie was at LCU for two seasons before spending last season as the head coach at Abernathy High School in Abernathy, Texas.

The Ozark, Mo. native replaces Matt Gardner as the Chaps pitching coach. Sundlie is married to V'Laura and they have two children (Aubrey and Easton).
