ATLANTA (July 22, 2013) – The Lubbock Christian University women's basketball program received academic recognition on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the 2012-13 season, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced.


The Lady Chaparrals had the fourth-best grade point average (GPA) among NAIA programs with a mark of 3.56. They were second amongst NAIA programs which competed in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. Vanguard (Calif.) had the best GPA with a mark of 3.61.


The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes women's basketball teams across the nation in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, the NAIA, and junior/community colleges that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2012-13 season is the 18th in which the WBCA has produced the honor rolls.
