OKLAHOMA CITY (May 6, 2013) - Eight members of the Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals baseball squad received All-Conference honors, as the Sooner Athletic Conference announced their postseason awards.
Wigberto Nevarez, Brennyn Smith, Christian Vazquez and Joel Lutz received First Team honors and Jason Fisch, Brandon Wilson, Brett Kauten and Kyle Forsyth received Second Team accolades. Vazquez also claimed a spot on the Gold Glove Team as a shortstop.
Nevarez, a junior from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, is ranked tenth in the NAIA in home runs per game (.244), 12th in slugging percentage (.680) and home runs (11) and 15th in total bases per game (2.3). He has 53 hits and 42 runs-batted-in this season with a .353 batting average.
Smith, a senior from Montgomery, Texas is ranked in nine statistical categories this season including eighth in total hits (80 and ninth in the NAIA with 125 total bases. He is also 12th with five total triples. He has 45 runs-batted-in this season and is batting .383.
Vazquez, a junior from Humacao, Puerto Rico is ranked fourth in the SAC with a .396 batting average. He has led his team all season in hits (88) and is ranked in the NAIA in 13 different statistical categories. His 88 hits ranks him second and he also ranks sixth with 222 at bats. His fielding percentage is 96.8% at the shortstop position, and he only committed eight errors on the season.
Lutz, a senior from Medicine Hat, Alberta is ranked second in the SAC with runs-batted-in per game (1.09) and is ranked fourth in the NAIA with 61 RBI this season. He is also ranked in nine other statistical categories along with being second with 15 home runs.

Fisch, a senior from Perth, Australia has 48 hits and 37 RBI this season. He was also named to the Sooner Athletic All-Conference team in 2012.
Wilson, a junior from Milliken, Colo. is batting .491 on the season with 11 doubles and 25 RBI. He has eight multi-hit games out of his last ten games played.
Kauten, a junior from Shelby Township, Mich. leads the NAIA with 17 home runs and is ranked in the top-15 in eight different statistical categories. He also ranks third in the SAC with 1.04 runs-batted-in per game. With 177 at bats this season he has 57 hits and eight doubles with a .322 batting average.
Forsyth, a senior from Oklahoma City is the lone Chaps pitcher named to the SAC All-Conference team. He is ranked 40th in the NAIA with eight wins this season. His overall record is 8-1 this season with a 3.03 ERA and has 55 strikeouts.
