OKLAHOMA CITY (April 29, 2013) – Brett Kauten of No.5 Lubbock Christian University was named Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 22-28.
Kauten, a junior outfielder from Shelby Township, Mich., batted .571 with a 1.571 slugging percentage to lead the Chaps to a 3-1 week against Wayland Baptist. Kauten had four home runs and a triple to go along with 11 RBI and 10 runs. He also walked three times and stole three bases. He had nine RBI in one game, coming one short of the team record.
The honor is the second this season for Kauten and it marks the sixth time a Chaps member has received the honor. Kauten last claimed the honor on Mar. 11. LCU, 39-14 on the season, heads to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament May 1 to face St. Gregory's University.
