LUBBOCK, Texas (April 26, 2013) – The National Signing Period opened Apr.17 and the Lubbock Christian University Athletic Department has received signatures from several future LCU student-athletes.

The significance of this class of signees is they mark the first class of signees to sign with LCU under the NCAA's watch. These student-athletes will be potentially the first to play all four seasons under NCAA guidelines, as LCU continues their transition to NCAA Div. II next season as a member of the Heartland Conference.

National signing period lasts until Aug. 1 and the following are a list of signees the department received for their respective sport:

Volleyball

Ashlyn Broussard – (Rockwall, TX; Rockwall High School)
Broussard is a 5'9 four-year letterman playing outside hitter. She was named First Team All-District her senior year, was an All-District Honorable Mention selection in 2010-2011 and was on the All-Tournament team three years at the Santa Fe (Texas) Tournament. Ashlyn is also involved with Dallas Premier Mizuno Volleyball Club.

Kelsea Eskew – (Fort Morgan, Co; Weldon Valley High School)
Kelsea is a 6'1" junior middle blocker from Fort Morgan, CO and a four-year varsity starter. She received All-Conference her sophomore and junior years along with Honorable Mention All-State. In her senior year of play she garnered first team All-Conference, first team All-County, first team All-Region, and first team All-State. After playing club volleyball three years with Fort Morgan X-Statics, she is currently playing with the Five Star 18 Black Club team.

Ariel Froeschi – (League City, TX; Clear Creek High School)
Froeschi is a 5'11 middle blocker and a three-year letterman from Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas (same high school that produced former LCU NAIA All-American Elissa Loynes). Throughout her time on varsity, Froeschi received several district, county and state awards. Among those awards were All-District Honorable Mention, All-District First Team, All-County First Team, All-District Academic First Team, All-District Second Team, Preseason All-County First Team middle blocker and Houston Chronicle Athlete of the Week Oct., 11-17, 2012. She is also a part of the Houston Stellar Volleyball Club, 18 Nike Elite.


Softball

Morgan Colburn (Sterling, CO; Odessa College)
Colburn is a sophomore transferring in from Odessa College. She leads the NJCAA in home runs this season with 26. Along with being the home run leader, she also ranks among the top 10 in the NJCAA in seven other offensive categories: .494 batting average (10th); 72 RBIs (seventh); 67 runs scored (eighth); 192 total bases (first); 89 hits (seventh); on-base percentage (eighth); and slugging percentage (second). Some of Colburn's credentials include All-Conference 4A Northern Conference, Sterling High School Most Valuable Player honor, Varsity Offensive Player, Triple Crown All-Star. She was a four year varsity letterman at Sterling.

Roxanne Curiel – (Corpus Christi, TX; Tuloso-Midway High School)
Curiel is a catcher in her senior year at Tuloso-Midway High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. As a junior, she received First Team All-District honors as a catcher. She also claimed 4A All-State and TGCA All-State accolades. As a sophomore, she earned honorable mention All-District honors as a catcher.

Jordin Knabenshue – (Rocky Ford, CO; Rocky Ford High School)
Knabenshue was a three-year starter for the Lady Meloneers of Rocky Ford High School. Rocky Ford went to the Class 3A State Tournament all four years she played and the Lady Meloneers advanced to the state semifinals all three years she started. She was one of Rocky Ford's top batters, batting .434 with 23 hits this season.

Abbigale White – (Lubbock, Texas; Cooper High School)
White, an all-district performer, hits in the three-hole for the Lady Pirates and is a right handed pitcher in the circle. She is a two-time first team All-District selection and was a first team TGCA All-State Academic volleyball player in 2012. White is currently still playing softball in her senior year of high school.

Giselle Maciel – (Lockhart, TX; Lockhart High School)
Maciel is currently in her senior year of high school at Lockhart High School and she has a .400 batting average and a .550 on base percentage. She earned first team All-District, Academic All-District and Defensive Player of the Year accolades in 2011-2012. She also helped her team to an Area round playoff victory.


Men's Basketball

Isaac Cardona – (Port Lavaca, Texas; Calhoun High School)
Cardona, a 6'5" inside player, was a four-year letterman and all-time leader in points and rebounds for the Calhoun High School Sandcrabs. Playing the power forward position, he was a two-time first team All-District selection, two-time All-Region selection, two-time District MVP, received the area MVP award and was a four-time Academic All-District winner. He helped his team to two District Championships, a Bi-District Championship, an Area Championship and a Semi-Quarter Final Championship.

Tyler Rogers – (Lubbock, Texas; Frenship High School)
Rogers is a 2012 Frenship High School graduate and transferring to LCU after spending one season at Abilene Christian University. Last season at ACU, he made one start in 16 games and averaged 2.9 points a game. Tyler was 5-of-9 from three-point range on the season. He served as team captain his senior year in high school and was a three year letterwinner. Tyler averaged 16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in his final year of high school and was an All-State, All-Region, All-South Plains and All-District honoree. He also received the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal 2011-12 All-City first team, District 3-4A MVP, TABC All-Star Game participant and was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year following his junior year.


Men's Soccer

Zachary Chambers – (Burleson, TX; Burleson High School)
Chambers, a Burleson, Texas native, was born in Chatham, Kent, England. On his high school team, he was a three-year varsity letterman and a captain his senior year. As a defender, he was a two time first team All-District selection. He helped his team advance to the 4A-Region I Bi-District Championship, Area Championship and were sectional qualifiers. Other individual awards he earned were First Team All-County and Second Team All-County his sophomore year. He is currently a member of the club team American Eagles '95's coached by David Hoffman.


Women's Golf

Bailey Brown – (Haslet, TX; Northwest High School)
Brown arrives from Haslet, Texas, where she was a four-year letterwinner for Northwest High School in Justin, Texas. She was a team captain for two years and was an All-District selection (6-5A) and Regional qualifier. Bailey also garnered Academic All-Distric honors three years and an Academic All-State honor. Among her high school team, she received the Fighting Heart Award two seasons and was a two time MVP selection.
