LUBBOCK, Texas (April 19, 2013) – The No. 2 Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals clinched at least a share of their fifth Sooner Athletic Conference regular season title by taking the first two games of their Sooner Athletic Conference series against Mid-America Christian University 8-0 and 11-2 at PlainsCapital Park on Friday. Both games ended early via the run rule.
 
The Lady Chaps scored five runs in the first inning of game one sending 11 batters to the plate. Megan Sullivan and Latainna Eltsosie each hit two-run home runs to highlight the inning. Sullivan led off the second inning with a double and scored off a hit by Stephanie Rendon. Courtney McGee was hit by a pitch, her second of the game and 26th of the season, and scored when Diana De La Paz singled to left field. LCU added an additional run in the fourth inning to go up 8-0 when Faith Koria scored from third base on a wild pitch. Sullivan and Eltsosie each finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs-batted-in. Rendon and De La Paz also each finished 2-for-3, as well. Autumn Lawrence produced both hits for the Lady Evangels going 2-for-2.
 
Katera Eltsosie (23-4) pitched four innings allowing only two hits and striking out six batters to pick up the win. Tori Bayer pitched the fifth inning to combine with Eltsosie for the shutout. Kelcie Wolf (1-11) started in the circle for MACU going two innings and giving up four hits and allowing six runs suffering the loss. Jackie Hilterbran came in to pitch the final two innings giving up another five hits and surrendering two additional runs.
 
In game two, Courtney McGee (14-0) stayed perfect in the circle, allowing two runs and two hits over four innings while striking out five batters. Lauren Hardin pitched a scoreless fifth inning allowing one hit and getting all three outs via strikeout. Jackie Hilterbran (5-6) suffered the loss for the Lady Evangels going 3.1 innings allowing five hits and three runs to score. Kelcie Wolf pitched 0.2 innings for MACU giving up eight hits and eight runs.
 
LCU scored a run in the first inning when Kirstie Cochran scored from second base on Megan Sullivan's single through the left side. They would tack on two more runs in the second inning with Shlay Denison driving in Diana De La Paz and eventually scoring later on a throwing error by the catcher. The Lady Chaps would score their final eight runs in the third inning with Latainna Eltsosie hitting her second two-run home run of the day. Sullivan finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 scoring two runs and driving in two runs. Eltsosie and Denison each finished the game with multi-hit performances as well. Kenna McCoy led the way for the Lady Evangels going 2-for-3.
 
With the two wins, the Lady Chaps improve to 46-7 on the season and 20-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. For the fifth consecutive season, LCU is guaranteed at least a share a share of the SAC regular season title. Mid-America Christian University fell to 10-28 overall, 0-18 in SAC play. These same two teams will face-off again Saturday at noon at PlainsCapital Park on LCU's campus. A win for LCU would clinch an outright conference regular season title.
