LUBBOCK, Texas (April 20, 2013) – No. 6 Lubbock Christian University and No. 15 Rogers State University will complete their four-game series with a first pitch from Hays Field at noon as the Chaparrals took the first two games of the series.

Josh Powe hit a pinch-hit walk-off double for a 5-4 win in the opener, and then the No.6 Chaparrals completed the doubleheader sweep with a Derek Loera complete-game four-hit 9-1 victory over the Hillcats in the first day of the Sooner Athletic Conference play.

The win by LCU in the opening game ended a sequence of four consecutive series opening losses. They improved to 34-13 overall and 14-8 in SAC play. LCU is ranked in the top-10 in 13 different categories. They lead the NAIA in total doubles (124), doubles per game (2.638), home runs per game (1.1) and slugging percentage (.561). Brett Kauten stays on top of the NAIA in home runs per game (0.3) and in home runs this season with 13. Christian Vazquez's 75 total hits this season ranks him second in the NAIA and is ranked fifth with 1.6 hits per game. Brennyn Smith ranks fifth with 107 total bases while Joel Lutz is ranked sixth with 48 runs-batted-in.

RSU fell to 30-15 overall and 14-8 in conference. RSU entered the series ranking 21st in the NAIA in opposing batting average (0.241) and 20th with a 3.15 ERA. Colton Campbell is ranked second in the NAIA with a .460 batting average and has a team leading 63 hits on the season along with 43 runs-batted-in. Shawn Spainhoward is ranked sixth in the NAIA with an ERA of 1.10. Spainhoward's 1.10 ERA and Campbell's .460 batting average rank them first in the SAC entering the series.
